REVIEW : Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson

Synopsis

Emily is about to take some risks and have the most unexpected summer ever in this new novel from the bestselling author of Second Chance Summer and Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour.

Before Sloane, Emily didn’t go to parties, she barely talked to guys, and she didn’t do anything crazy. Enter Sloane, social tornado and the best kind of best friend—someone who yanks you out of your shell.

But right before what should have been an epic summer, Sloane just…disappears. No note. No calls. No texts. No Sloane. There’s just a random to-do list with thirteen bizarre tasks that Emily would never try. But what if they can lead her to Sloane?

Apple picking at night? Okay, easy enough.

Dance until dawn? Sure. Why not?

Kiss a stranger? Wait…what?

Getting through Sloane’s list will mean a lot of firsts, and with a whole summer ahead of her—and with the unexpected help of the handsome Frank Porter—who knows what she’ll find.

Go Skinny Dipping? Um…

Review

To be honest I haven't read this much contemporary yet, but I definitly wanna read more, and with this book I'm in a total contemporary mood!

I loved it!

I think the characters are so handsome you just cannot hate or dislike them and I really liked the way Emily 'grew up' throughout the book.
It was so amazing to see the shy girl to get outcoming and having fun in public, to get brave.

And I loved Frank from the second Emily first met him!

I also really liked that the romance wasn't in the main focus like it is in most contemporaries (so far I read) but was a funny and really cute site theme.

And yeah.. first of all I didn't really liked Emily's parents but at least from the 'Livingroom Theater' scene I really liked them. (NO real SPOILERS!)

And I think the ending was sooooo cute, but also really open, that I would really appreciate a sequel !

Wouldn't that be awesome? I think so !

So of course, if you cannot already tell, I gave this gorgeous book

I really recommened it to everybody who hasn't read it yet and also to non-contemporary fans !

This book is unique and I hope it will last so.

TAG : This or That ? (Book Edition)

Hey guys ! (:

Today I decided to do a TAG.
I watched some videos of this TAG and so I thought : Why not do it myself?
So here I am ! :D

Let's start ♥

1
The first book in your collection and the last book you bought.

Ehmm.. I think the first book in my collection is Twilight by Stephenie Meyer.
And the last book I bought would be City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare.

2
A cheap book and an expensive one.

For the cheap book I'm going with Unite Me, the bind-up of Destroy Me and Fracture Me, by Tahereh Mafi. I think it was 7 Euros and that's a 5.50 Pounds or 9.50 Dollar.
And for the expensive one I go with, of course, City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare, which costed me 18 Euros and that makes about 25 Dollar or 14 Pounds.

3
A book with a male protagonist and one with a female protagonist.

Soo.. a male protagonist isn't that often I think, but the one who went first in my mind is Percy Jackson from the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series by Rick Riordan.
Unlike the male protagonist, I can go with thousands of female ones but I thought I maybe go with one from an 'unhyped' series.
And so I've decided to go with Kylie from the Shadow Falls Camp Series by C. C. Hunter.

4
A book I read quickly and one that took me long to read.

I read The One by Kiera Cass and Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi both in one day each, so I couln't decided.
But Allegiant by Veronica Roth took me sooo damn long that I couldn't go through it anyway..

5
A pretty cover and an ugly one.

For the pretty cover I go with These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner.
And for the ugly one I go with The Lightning Thief (old cover) by Rick Riordan.

6
A national book and an international one.

I'm German so I go the Ruby Red Trilogy by Kerstin Gier because Kerstin Gier is a German author.
And for the international book I go with TID (The Infernal Devices Trilogy) by Cassandra Clare.

7
A thin book and a thick book.

The thin one ist probably The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.
And my thinkest one is probably City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare.

8
A fiction book and a non-fiction book.

I picked Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout for the fiction book and for the non-fiction one I go with the Graphic Novel of the diary of Anne Frank.

9
A romantic book and an action book.

I think the Starcrossed Trilogy by Josephine Angelini is kind of a romanctical trilogy but to be honest, I don't really read much romantic related books.
There for I read many action books and so I go with, of course, The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins.

And at least

10
A book that made me happy and one that made me sad.

Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi made me really, really happy because I'm soo Team Warner. :D
And a book that made me sad is probaly The Fault in our Stars by John Green.

So guys..
This was the TAG (:
Hope you liked it!

And when you wanna do it too, just do it, but I would be glad when you add me than to your post (:

See y'all next time !

DISCUSSION : Series or Standalones ?

Hey guys (:

Today I've got a discusion for you.
It's about, if it's better if books are in a series or are standalone novels.

Okay..
I've heard different opinions on this topic, so I've decided to share my opinion with you. (:

Well..

I'm one of those who like series or trilogies better then standalones.
I don't know exactly why but I think it's because in more books you can get better along with the characters and the plot.
Maybe because so I can get more details and go on more advantures.
And I think it looks pretty beautiful on the shelf when you have matching spines. :D

But yeah, there are also some negatives about trilogies/series :

The first is that you mostly must wait for the next book to be released
(like I must now wait for the second Rebel Belle book by Rachel Hawkins).
And that can sometimes be really annoying..

The second, and for me the last, ist that it is truely more expensive to buy eg 3 ore 6 books instead of one.
But if you really like the books, it's okay for you :D

So, now to the standalones.

I think standalones are pretty cool.
You can have a whole and completed story in about 300 to 500 pages.
And you mustn't wait for the next books to be released!

But mostly you cannot connect to the characters that good you do when you read a series.
And I personally think that isn't a positive thing.

Yeah, and if you be a person like me who needs to have the whole series but then after the second book do not enjoy it anymore, a standalone maybe would have been better because you hadn't threw much money out of the window for the other books because there where none.

Yes, these are my opinions on this topic. (:

So, what are yours ?

Please leave a comment on that! c:

REVIEW : Rebel Belle (Rebel Belle #1) by Rachel Hawkins

Synopsis

Harper Price, peerless Southern belle, was born ready for a Homecoming tiara. But after a strange run-in at the dance imbues her with incredible abilities, Harper's destiny takes a turn for the seriously weird. She becomes a Paladin, one of an ancient line of guardians with agility, super strength and lethal fighting instincts.

Just when life can't get any more disastrously crazy, Harper finds out who she's charged to protect: David Stark, school reporter, subject of a mysterious prophecy and possibly Harper's least favorite person. But things get complicated when Harper starts falling for him--and discovers that David's own fate could very well be to destroy Earth.

With snappy banter, cotillion dresses, non-stop action and a touch of magic, this new young adult series from bestseller Rachel Hawkins is going to make y'all beg for more.

Review

I had really high preconditions for this book because I've just hears amazing about this book in Booktube and on Goodreads
And I really loved it !

At the beginning I was a little bit confused by the writing style of this book but when I got better into it, it was a really cool style (:

I think it started really fast because Harper wasn't in this world from the beginning so you hadn't much explaination about it at the start.
This came when she got involved in this whole thing but it was good because so the reader can be also Harper and get all explained together with her.

I really liked all the characters, and I really love David, but I think when Leigh-Anne got the first time mentioned, Harper or her family could have said more about her story because I sat in front of the book and was just questioning who Leigh-Anne is..

Harper as the protagonist was okay. She wasn't my favorite character of all time but also not my worst.
In the beginning I was just thinking : "What an annoying girl", but through the book I liked here more and more, and  in some parts, eg when she get offered something, she was still annoying, but it wasn't worse.

And the plot was really cool too and you could easily jump in.

To be honest I haven't really got an idea what kind of genre (apart from YA) it is, but it's definitely my type (:

So I ended up giving this book

and I'm really looking forward to the second book 'Miss Mayhem'.

This was my first Review, so please don't be this detered :D

See y'all ♥

Introduction to my blog (:

Hey guys !

This here is my new blog, Anne Books. (:
And yes, I'm also new in this whole blogging world.
So please don't be this hard right now :D

Anyway...
I'm Anne and I'm kind of a bookaholic.
I love reading and I love collecting books on my shelf.

I read since I can hold a book in my hands.
But I was in kind of a reading slump for some months, then I've read some books and went again in a slump...
Like this were my last two to three years..

And I'm NOT proud of it!
But now I read regularly (:

And this is why I've decided to run this blog.
I wanted to share my opinions on books with other people who have the same interest (reading :D) like me.
So I'm going to post Reviews, Hauls, maybe some TAGs and also some things which are in my mind about bookrelated stuff.

Even though most of my friends read too there is the problem that I'm the only one of them who read just books in English.
And yeah (: Now you know I'm not from the UK, the US or whatever.
I'm from Germany (:

Okay..
So maybe I just list down some of my favorite books, so you can see what type of books I read but I must say: It's manly YA (Young Adult). But one advise: These are my current favourites of June 2014 and they change mostly whenever I read a new book :D

- The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare
- The Infernal Devices Trilogy by Cassandra Clare
- The Shatter Me Trilogy by Tahereh Mafi
- The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins
- The Starcrossed Trilogy by Josephine Angelini
- Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins
- Shadow Falls Camp Series by C. C. Hunter

And I'm currently reading :

- Since you've been gone by Morgan Matson

I hope you like my blog so far and maybe follow it in the future. (:

I would be glad if you leave a comment with your opinion on my blog in the comment section (:

And I've got a question for you :
What are you currently reading ?
